Akbar Travels sink Indian Navy

Mumbai, October 18 : Akbar Travels posted a comfortable 3-1 against Indian Navy in a MFL Elite Division encounter at the RCF ground in Chembur on Saturday. O Ezekal scored two goals, in the 67th and 89th minutes, and Vineeth Anthony scored the third in the 71st minute. P S Sumesh reduced the margin for Navy in the 87th minute.

In the second match, RCF’s Allan Dias got the first goal in the 23rd minute after Nigel D’Souza had worked hard to create several chances for his team. After Muzzafar Ansari was red carded for elbowing Nigel D’Souza, another goal was disallowed, because Sagar Chile was ruled off-side trying to give a final touch to a goal-ward bound ball. Abbas Rizvi equalized for Bank of India in the 42nd minute when RCF custodian Nayeem Ansari let a harmless free-kick through his hands into goal. The last 25 minutes saw at least 10 chances go a begging for the RCF side, but the winner was to elude them, the game ending at 1-1.

The performance of referee Amjad Khan came in for severe criticism as he made an impact in both the day’s games. He controversially red-carded Navy striker Shaji D’Silva.
